About Us
Who We are
A simple leather project in boy scouts began a life-long interest in creating hand-crafted leather goods for Steve Phillimore. With his curiosity piqued, he began reading about the craft and experimenting until, almost entirely self-taught, he developed a mastery of the art. All Steve’s pieces are entirely hand-tooled, and he has developed a special dyeing technique that gives his pieces a unique textured effect.
Our History
His early pieces were primarily traditional western tooled and laced items made for family and friends, but it laid a foundation that would become a part-time, and later full-time. In college, Steve worked part-time for a shoe-repair shop where he was responsible for building a line of hand-made sandals. That job landed him a contract designing and making candle holders for a local candle company. From there, Steve developed his own unique style and began traveling the mid-west and selling his goods at local crafts fairs and juried arts shows.
Today
Steve now lives in Alaska, and is once again doing arts and crafts shows in the Anchorage area, and selling through his website. Items stocked regularly include his candle/plant holders, belts, several varieties of billfolds and wallets, ladies cross-body wallets and handbags, leather picture frames, coffee cozies, leather boxes, leather encased buckles, hair barrettes, snuff holders, knife sheathes and custom holsters and motorcycle bags. If you have an idea for something made from leather, give us a shout and we’ll see what we can come up with for you.
