I use 3-4 oz. tooling leather for the outside and 3 oz. leather lining for the inside. It is machine sewn with nylon thread. Our products are all hand tooled and hand stained using a multistep process to apply a base color to the background and highlight the tooling.
We make hand-crafted leather products. This word seems to be a very loosely defined term. Rolling or stamping a design by machine (embossing) and then staining the product by hand is considered by some to be a hand crafted product. We don’t. Each of our products is tooled individually by hand, and then stained with the same attention. Generally speaking, a hand-tooled design will actually cut the leather, not just make an impression.
